Shania Twain

It looks like Celine Dion can now count on sharing the Caesar’s Palace Colosseum stage with country music star Shania Twain who after a seven-year absence from the music industry is ready to make a comeback and has officially confirmed that she has signed on for a 2-year residency at the famed Vegas hotel and casino with her upcoming “Still the One” production beginning in December 2012.

It’s been a long road to recovery for the singer who dropped out of the spotlight to deal with a messy divorce from her husband of 14 years, Robert “Mutt” Lange as well as the loss of her voice which was obviously a big concern.

According to People Magazine, the Grammy Award winning singer found out through doctors that the loss of her voice was a result of the intense stress that was going on in her life which was constricting the muscles in her throat and affecting her voice box.

I feel like I’m on top of the world,” she announced today as she gave a press conference together with Caesar’s Palace executives to announce her 2012 debut. In the meantime, Twain is keeping plenty busy with her cable show, “Why Not? With Shania Twain”which airs on Oprah’s OWN network which takes audiences on her own personal journey through her recovery.

It sounds like Shania has a lot to get off her chest and her fans will get a chance to witness the magic starting next year and if you’re looking to get a head start, tickets to her show are already on sale.

Event #10 (the Main Event, natch) of the World Series of Poker* circuit stop at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas was won by 24-year-old Chris Johnson, a recent immigrant to the city of lights who originally hails from Nebraska. The $ 1,500 (+100) buy-in No Limit Hold ‘Em tournament attracted the biggest field so far in its six-year history with 496 entrants and a prize pool that amounted to $ 714,240. Johnson earned $ 153,559 for his first-place finish in the tournament.

“I got ran over by the deck,” Johnson told reporters. “Everything went good for me today. I won two early coin flips and that pretty much made it smooth sailing the rest of the way.”

Johnson’s seen lot at cash games with moderate to high stakes throughout Vegas, which is the reason he moved out there. He also plays online poker and is just now embarking on a live tournament career that already has a pretty amazing start.

It’s time to catch up with World Series of Poker* Circuit at Caesars Palace in Vegas and see who won events 7, 8 and 9!

Event #7 was won by Todd Chew, who hails from Nowhere, IL. No, that’s not a joke. He earned $ 32,809 and a WSOPC gold ring after defeating a massive field of 530 entries in the $ 300+50 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament. The 43-year-old businessman endured two days of grueling play and a final table that lasted almost 11 hours, four hours of which was heads-up poker. Both of these nearly set circuit records for this year. The total prize pool amounted to $ 152,640 with the top 54 finishers collecting prize money.

San Diego pro Michael Souza won the $ 500(+60) Six-Handed No-Limit Hold ‘Em championship that served as event #8. Souza’s well known in the tournament circles for his fiery temper and ability to receive abuse as well as he gives it. This was Souza’s sixth overall tournament victory. He now has nearly $ 500,000 in accumulated career tournament earnings.

Event #9, the $ 1,000(+90) buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament, went to Miller Dao from Arizona. The Vietnamese-born police officer is a fixture in his community and is already proving to be quite a poker player, cashing in three of the six WSOPC tournaments he’s played in and earning $ 55,202 for his first-place finish this go–round.

It was a multilingual battle for the ages at the inaugural event at the World Series of Poker* Circuit stop at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas as Italy’s Guiseppe Bianvociso and the Ukraine’s Leonid Ryandynskyy went head-to-head at the final table to determine who’d walk away with the ring and the first-place purse. With a robust field that was 98% American, the fact that two men who winged their way from Europe (one of whom was on vacation) ended up opposite each other had tongues wagging with some likening the duel to something out of the World Cup.

In the end, though, Italy prevailed in the $ 300+50 No Limit Hold ‘Em poker tournament, earning Biancoviso his first-ever ring, points on the leaderboard for the million-dollar freeroll and a very tidy $ 28,398 added to his bankroll. Ryandynskyy can’t whine too much about his second-place finish, however: he is going to be taking over $ 17,000 back to the Ukraine.

Absinthe
is a recent addition to the Caesars Palace entertainment line-up that mixes all the best of the burlesque scene with a dash of Cirque du Soleil acrobatics and slightly raunchy yet entertaining comedy and showmanship. It’s a circus for adults created by the famed Spiegelworld and the most fun you will ever have under a circus tent.

As a guest of the show you will be seated under a Spiegel tent that was created in fashion of a style popular in the early 20th century and is decorated with mirrors, stained glass and velvet. One thing leads to another as you enter one tent which leads to more tents housing a beer garden and a secret speakeasy. It’s a production unlike any other and combines striptease, knife jugglers, cabaret singers who are all introduced to audiences by the one and only “The Gazillionaire,” and his cast of merry and not so merry crew including Miss Behave, The Green Fairy and The Weather Girl reports the Las Vegas Sun.

As the Absinthe cast dazzles and amazes their audiences, there is also a booze fest going on in the process so for those brave enough to dive into the madness, the show is on at Caesars from Thursday to Monday and if you’re looking for a unique take on adult entertainment, it looks like Absinthe is definitely it.
